Thankful for our King...

We had a wonderful Easter weekend!

After our fun-filled Saturday we got dressed and headed to church for our Easter vigil mass. And as usual, our plans didn't quite happen the way we intended. (I'm starting to see a trend here). We thought mass began at 8, so I fed Landry right before we left so we could make it through the service. Well, mass actually began at 8:30 - the sun needed to be completely set since it began outside only lit by one candle. It was beautiful. The entire congregation moved inside each lighting a candle to begin one of the most sacred services of the year.

We soon realized that mass was going to take *slightly* longer than we planned since people were being baptized, confirmed and receiving first communion. Sadly, we had to leave to early - Landry was getting hungry and I didn't dress "appropriately" for her. We probably would have had to leave early anyway - my parents reported that it continued past 11:30pm. We probably will not attend Easter vigil mass again until the kids are old enough to last that long.
(Yes, it's the KIDS that would have trouble, promise).

Sunday morning we slept late (thank you, Landry) and then the kids got to see all their Easter goodies.

Radley actually discovered his loot the night before when he walked into my closet.

I'm not sure what this means for his belief in the Easter bunny, but I'm not that concerned. It allowed the focus to remain on the true meaning of the day. The only time he was "sad" was when he realized that EB never hid his eggs. I felt a little bad, but I'm sure he will survive.

Landry was happy to let Radley show her each item in her basket, too.

I realized something throughout the day - as we prepped for our annual spaghetti lunch - the pace was slower than any other major holiday. Easier than Thanksgiving, not as much build up as Christmas - it was a day that we committed to each other. To take it slow and to remember and give thanks to the real reason we "celebrate".

Because of Him.

Because of Him - we have all that we do, and we should remember that and be thankful more often.
